For more than 130 years, the CNY SPCA has been a trusted part of this community, standing as a voice for animals who cannot speak for themselves. Every day, our team works tirelessly to reunite lost pets with their families, provide safe shelter for stray and abandoned animals, and help deserving pets find loving forever homes. Our mission goes beyond animal care; we are committed to protecting public safety while delivering compassionate services that strengthen the bond between people and animals.

When an animal arrives at the shelter, it often comes with an uncertain story. Some are lost and frightened, waiting to be reunited with the families who miss them. Others have been abandoned, neglected, or surrendered through difficult circumstances. No matter how they arrive, every animal receives food, shelter, medical attention, and daily care from a dedicated team that believes every life matters.

Through adoption, we help animals begin a second chapter. Every adoption means more than finding a pet. It means saving a life and creating space for another animal in need. Behind every happy ending is a network of care, compassion, and community support.

The CNY SPCA also plays a critical role in public safety. Our Dog Control Officers respond to calls involving roaming dogs, nuisance concerns, bite incidents, and other situations that affect neighborhoods and families. We work to resolve these issues responsibly while ensuring the safety of both residents and animals.

In addition, our Animal Cruelty Department investigates reports of neglect and abuse, partnering with law enforcement and local agencies to protect vulnerable animals and hold offenders accountable. These cases are often difficult, but they are essential to creating a safer, more humane community.
