Dog Control is available for emergency calls that are routed through the municipalities via the local police agency or 911. Emergencies include, but are not limited to, Dangerous/Vicious Dog, Traffic Hazard, Injured Dog, Police Request with extenuating circumstances etc.
The CNYSPCA does not handle dog control in the City of Syracuse.

If your dog has been picked up by dog control.
These are the steps to take:
Make sure you have current rabies and license information. Per NYS Law, we cannot release a dog without proof of a current rabies shot and a current Town license. If your dog does not have a current rabies shot, we can administer one here for $25.00. We can then provide you with proof of rabies that you can bring to your Town in order to obtain a license.
You will need to pay to the corresponding impound fee. Our fee schedule is as follows:
Impound Less than 24 Hours: $50
Impound More than 24 Hours: $100
Rabies Vaccination on site: $25
Microchip on site: $50
Town specific fees will apply for all Towns not contracted with the CNY SPCA.
Dogs will be kept at the shelter on a 5 day stray hold. After 5 days, they will be vetted and made ready for adoption.
